The Pembroke UMC honored Mrs. Elizabeth Harn for 67 years of dedicated service on her 90th birthday. The Evangelism Committee and the UMW planned a surprise party at a church-wide Soup and Bingo night. A large group of family members gathered to pay tribute to Harn for her enthusiasm, loyalty, and willingness to tackle any job whether great or small. She is an inspiration to all, and is loved and respected in our church and community.
Nettie Washington Douglass (in the center), great-great-granddaughter of Frederick Douglass, and great-granddaughter of Booker T. Washington, was the guest speaker at a luncheon sponsored the UMW Circle of Love on Sunday, February 15, at Cliftondale UMC. Shown with Ms. Washington Douglass are the Rev. Game Night at the Snellville United Methodist Church sponsored by the Senior Adult Ministry (SAM) Council. Game night is held once a month. All persons 55 and over are invited for a night of a variety of games and light refreshments.
Center Valley MC in Chatsworth (Northwest District) celebrated Valentine’s Day on February 15, at the morning worship service. Four couples renewed their wedding vows: Randall and Linda Ingle, Jerry and Judy Leonard, Lola and R. L. Presley and Sherman and Peggy Leonard. The Rev. Dr. Roy Daniels is the pastor.
The children and youth of Lumber City United Methodist Church presented a morning service that was focused on children’s rights and missions and included a blessing of the health kits the children made for use in disasters through the United Methodist Committee on Relief. The service included several songs by the children, a very inspiring sermon by Nikki Hancock, and a closing prayer by Hunter Strickland. Children’s church is held each Sunday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. at Lumber City UMC, Sunday School is each Sunday at 9:45 a.m. Mrs. Susie Spires and Mrs. Judy Hancock work tirelessly with the children and youth. Rev. Glenn Hancock is the pastor at Lumber City United Methodist Church in Lumber City, GA.

95 people filled the Thorpe Building at St. Simons UMC for a delicious meal and fun. The entertainment was provided by Jennifer Duncan of Midland, Ga. She sang songs of the 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s. A highlight was the Rev. Don Proctor, minister to Senior Adults, the Rev.
